Beauty needs to bleed from somewhere
Updated: Apr 30
(might as well be from me)
It's ironic how this quote makes appearances in my life when I'm on the precipice between madness and creativity, or dedication and burnout. It's like the world won't let me forget I'm an artist; I'm fated to forge my beauty, not find it, like boring islands out of the seas with my bare hands.
But callouses are hard work's souvenirs.
Hard things make us soft spoken.
Soft music brings comfort to heavy hearts,
as if the weight of ivory can somehow counterbalance the stress.
The world is full of contradictions
and I guess that's why l've found myself being the kindest I've ever been despite waking up on the wrong side of my mind; you know those days that feel like someone else's anger inhabited your body while you were asleep? I try not to take these days for granted, because for whatever reason, I usually choose the option to smile tenderly than to pick grievances. And maybe for today, that's enough to teach me that humans are too gracious for our own good: we rather smile to someone's "good morning, how are you" than risk bleeding out with honesty. It makes me wonder how many beautiful smiles I've worn, seen, and collected today that were worth a thousand words.
